Embedded with charged emotion and social relevance, this woman-centric tale touchingly traces the twists and turns in the life of Malini (Rituparna Sengupta), a successful photographer working for a prestigious magazine.

Over a period of time, Malini becomes fascinated by the faces of the dead, and begins working on a photographic series that attempts to capture the final expression of blank, pale, lifeless faces. This work Malini has chosen, seems to provide her with a cathartic experience as she remains haunted and traumatised by the sexual molestation she had to endure in her teenage years.

In the course of her work, Malini comes into contact with Urmila Sanyal (Rati Agnihotri), a leading social activist, who has dedicated her life to the service of exploited and distressed women in society.

Malini's reminiscences traverse through her tumultuous romance with Rajat (Firdous Ahmed), the pampered and spoiled son of a wealthy businessman, highlighting the complications that developed and how she was ostracised by one and all when she became pregnant prior to marriage.

Will Malini finally find the strength within herself to break through the chains of socio-cultural bonds and the barriers placed by a conservative, patriarchal family? As she embarks on a journey towards self-discovery, what secret truths will be revealed about her family, her role models and her own origin?
