Atanu Mukherjee is an Indian film writer, director, and editor who is noted for his work in Bollywood cinema. He is an alumnus of Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata. He started his career as the writer and director for short films, The Gatekeeper gave his a epic stand in his career, which was showcased at the South Asian International Film Festival and International Documentary and Short Film Festival, Kerala in 2015, where it won the Best Short Fiction Award. His other notable short film credits include Stray Dogs, which won the Best Short Film in cinema International Film Festival - 2014 and My House Is Not So Far, a documentary, which was commissioned by Doordarshan. After his successful stint as writer and director of short films, he made his debut as an editor in a feature film with Monsoon Shootout, which was screened at the Cannes Film Festival in 2013. His other notable film credits as an editor include Unfreedom and Shortcut Safari. His 2017 release includes Rukh, a drama mystery film starring Manoj Bajpayee, Smita Tambe, Adarsh Gourav and Kumud Mishra. The movie is his maiden feature film directorial venture.
