Basanta Bahar (1957)

This melodiously musical tale sparks off at the Kashi Classical Music festival, where Jayanta Chowdhury, the only Bengali participant makes a performance.

Munna Bhai also comes to perform at the festival, but she is disrespected and spoken ill of by a few people. She sings a particular raga called 'Basanta bahar' that completely fascinates Jayanta. He decides to become a pupil of Munna Bhai against all odds.

Completely against societal norms, Jayanta falls in love with Lata, Munna Bhai's daughter. With everyone going against their relationship because of caste boundaries and social norms, how will their relationship unfold?
