During the 1971 Indo-Pak war, the IAF airstrip was destroyed in combat and a group of 300 women-led by IAF squadron leader Vijay Karnik was formed to reconstruct the airbase. This heroic act was lauded and had helped boost the morale of our country leading to India winning the war.
