Changatham (1983)

Embedded with quirky comedy and fiery action, this offbeat romantic crime drama delightfully depicts the fluctuating fortunes in the life of Tony (Mammootty), a sincere man forced into a life of crime by circumstance. In order to get close to a target, he disguises himself as a wealthy businessman and begins trying to attract Anne (Madhavi), a beautiful young woman who works as a typist in a company. Anne's boss Daniel (Mohanlal) desires and lusts after her. Before he can woo her, Tony becomes intimate with her and eventually marries her. It is only after the marriage that Anne discovers the truth about her husband. She feels betrayed and shattered by Tony's actions but life has worse in store for her. Daniel, who has been nursing an obsession for her finally vents his fury at her for choosing another man, by attempting to rape her. Thankfully, Tony comes to her assistance but in the ensuing fight, Daniel is killed. With a police investigation into the death underway, Tony becomes a fugitive of the law. Will Anne forgive Tony and help him hide from the police? What were the circumstances that forced Tony into a life of crime? Can Anne and Tony succeed in outsmarting the police or will they be captured and punished by the law?
