Wes Anderson, the writer, and director of the film conducted a competition for someone to be a member of the voice cast for the film. The only requirement was that they donated ten dollars or more to the Film Foundation, a non-profit founded by Martin Scorsese, which specializes in the preservation and restoration of film around the world.

In the film, the hair of the dogs is made out of Alpacca wool.

As dogs are partly colorblind and can't see red or green colours, therefore, all shots from the dog's perspective show no red or green.

Due to scheduling conflicts, Jeff Goldblum could not go to England to record his lines and therefore, he recorded his lines over the phone in California.

"Isle of Dogs" was influenced by the work of Akira Kurosawa and Rankin-Bass stop-motion Christmas specials.

This film opened the 68th Berlin International Film Festival, where Wes Anderson was awarded the Silver Bear for Best Director and was given a limited release in the United States on March 23, 2018, by Fox Searchlight Pictures.

"Isle Of Dogs" cast includes four Oscar winners, F. Murray Abraham, Tilda Swinton, Fisher Stevens and Frances McDormand, and seven Oscar nominees, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Jeff Goldblum, Harvey Keitel, Bryan Cranston, Greta Gerwig and Bob Balaban.

The character design of Tracy Walker was inspired by Kerry Fox's character Janet Frame in An Angel at My Table, said by the director of the film.

Previously Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson were seen in the film "Lost in Translation" and "The Jungle Book".

This was the third consecutive Wes Anderson movie to include both Harvey Keitel and Edward Norton, following Moonrise Kingdom and The Grand Budapest Hotel.

Apparently, the film was strongly influenced by the films of Akira Kurosawa, as well as the stop-motion animated holiday specials made by Rankin/Bass Productions.
