Iruvar-II [kaviyathalaivan]
on

At last we got a chance to know how tamil cinema came from drama stage to bioscope, very interesting.Need to appreciate Vasantha balan's braveness, for producing such a movie in this modern world.Iruvar movie directed by maniratnam, which highlighted the story of MGR and Karunanidhi's friendship and their growth from Drama and cinema Stage - Political Stage as chief ministers. This movie highlight's what was before that in Tamil Cinema and the contribution of Bagavathar, Chinappa,N.S.Krishnan and K.P.Sundarambal for its growth. So according to me we can name this movie by another name - " IRUVAR II "

fantastic effort!! treasure f tamil cinema!!

"KAVIYA THALAIVAN" -I always admire director vasantha balan for his extra ordinary efforts.. after d release f ARAVAN, i felt we rely doesnt recognise him well.. but this movie as a perfect combo n all aspects,i hope it wil bring him al d credits what he missed till date dat he rely deserve for...
i had a mindset dat actor SIDDHARTH neve match for dis movie.. and itz a big blunder d director made... but!!! siddharth... no words.. jus his acting influenced d entire muvie... i cud say dis s one f d best acting n his career.. i neve imagined him out f urbanised role!! d impact f freaky dude f rang de basanti always sticked n mind.. but!! he prooved himself versatile thru dis flick.. NASAR asusual brilliant.. d research work for dis muvie s defly not dat easy... costumes and art works enhances this period flick in every aspects.. even though dey made dis a contemperory wrk,it doesnt affect d classic output..
The intelligence in the scirpt s soo subtle.. so this might b a boring for dose who expecting too much drama in the screenplay.. AR.RAHMAN s jus a magnetic promotion for d muvie till it get released.. now... its a perfect combo served lik a classic wine as a team.. these kinda efforts shud b encoraged... and dis kinda creations are treasure to the tamil cinema.. hats off!! to d crew...

Vedhika is said to have sported 20 different looks for this film.

Siddharth is said to have sported 25 different looks for this film.

When the director initially approached the legendary A. R. Rahman for the music direction of this movie, he was crestfallen when the maestro rejected the offer, due to his busy schedule. A few days later, when Rahman sent a crisp message, ‘Kittappa is ready,’ he was delighted.

The initial concept of this movie came to the director through Jayamohan, who first sowed the thought of delving into the theatre life of the early part of the last century, when he told him to read Enadhu Nadaga Vaazhkai, an autobiography of theatre doyen T.K. Shanmugham. The book came as a revelation to Vasanthabalan, and his fascination with the story led him to the creation of this movie.

Vedika, whose potential came to the fore in Bala’s 'Paradesi', and Anaika, the heroine of 'Sathya 2', were chosen to play the lead female roles, as they were most ideally suited for the parts.

The director of this movie, Vasanthabalan used to work as an assistant director under veteran director Shankar.

The director, Vasanthabalan denied that this period romance is a spin-off from the life and romance of the stage superstars of the previous era, S.G. Kittappa and K.B. Sundarambal,
