Manasi Oru Manimuthu (1986)

Laced with laughs, this dark tale depicts the twists and turns in the life of Mohan, a spoiled young man from a wealthy family, who is used to getting whatever he wants. While his mother is concerned about his activities, Mohan remains immoral and uncaring. His misdeeds reach a crescendo when Mohan captures Mary Kutti, a beautiful young woman from an impoverished family. Mohan's mother decides that the only way to control his womanising is to get him married to a well-bred young woman. They choose Radhika, and Mohan too decides that he would start a new, straightforward life with her. However, Govindan Pillai, Radhika's father comes to know about Mohan's shady past and immoral character and decides to get her married to Sreedharan, a sincere man. Mohan decides that he would never think of marriage in his life again. Sreedharan and Radhika begin a happy married life, and have a son, Kannan. They also begin farming and accomplish great progress. Just as everything seems poised for great success and Sreedharan avails of a bank loan for Rs. 2 lakhs, he is burglarised and murdered. Due to his past with Radhika and violent attitude, everyone automatically assumes that it must have been Mohan who murdered Sreedharan. The police also suspect Mohan and begin criminal investigation against him. However, Radhika believes in Mohan's innocence and slowly, he begins helping her out in the farming process. How will society view Mohan's presence in Radhika's life? Who was really responsible for Sreedharan's murder?
