Mary Louise Streep was born on the 22nd of June, 1949. She is an American actress and singer who is cited inthe media as the "best actress" of her generation. She is particulrly known for her versatility in her roles, transforming into the characters she plays. She made her stage debut with The Playboy of Seville (1971) and received a 1976 Tony Award nomination for the Best Featured Actress in a Play for A Memory of Two Mondays/27 Wagons Full of Cotton. She made her on-screen debut with the 1977 tele-film The Deadliest Season and her feature film debut with Julia in the same year. She won an Emmy Award in 1978 for her role in the miniseries Holocaust and also received her first Academy Award nomination for The Deer Hunter. She has been nominated for a total of 19 Academy Awards and has won the Best Supporting Actress for Kramer vs. Kramer (1979) and Best Actress for Sophie's Choice (1982) and The Iron Lady (2011).

Also Streep, who received her 17th nomination back in 2011. She has won three Oscars of her 17 nominations before this one ('The Iron Lady' in 2012, 'Sofie's Choice' in 1983 and 'Kramer vs Kramer' in 1980).
