Sahara (1958)

Leela is an orphan who lives with her evil aunt Rangilibai and her daughter Kaushalya. Leela is treated very badly at her home. Rangilibai decides to marry Kaushalya to a wealthy landlord and places leela as their maid for the marriage dowry. Circumstances change and Kaushalya is rejected when the landlord chooses to marry Leela. Everything goes well until Leela is accused of infidelity and thrown out of the house, and nowhere to go she approaches her distant relative and his wife. They persuade her to beg for alms and mistreat her and when she denies they blind her by using eye drops and a blind leela is made to beg for alms. Will Leela's fate be changed or will she have to face her ruthless fate when her husband and family had shunned her!
