A one-time watch.

Tamasha is a story of two strangers, a fun-loving boy Ranbir and a simple girl Deepika, who run into each other away from India – decides not to reveal their identity – spends a week together – departs – Meet again after years – Ranbir is totally a different person now. How Deepika helps him in realizing what he actually wants from his life is all the movie is about.

Now coming to pros and cons of the movie, here’re some points:

- I did not like the intro of the movie at all. It’s different, very different from all other Bollywood movies, but weird too.
- I felt the first half of the movie isn’t as interesting as the second half.
- Not that I did not like the first half at all, I did, whenever I saw Ranbir & Deepika I totally went awww. But wherever they showed the childhood flashback of Ranbir, it was too slow and boring.
- A lot of A rated jokes in the first half, which makes those scenes quite a fun to watch! :D

Disappointing overall inspite of some bright spots like the perrformances of its charismatic leads

Let me be honest, barring Jab we met , I have not enjoyed much of Imtiaaz Ali's brand of cinema.Love aaj kal, Rockstar and Highway to me stood out more for the performances of Saif Khan-Deepika,Ranbir Kapoor and Randeep-Alia Bhatt coupled with some good music. His latest offering Tamaasha is quite a let down in terms of the pre release hype it created and does not clearly fulfill audience expectations.
Getting A listers like Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor on screen meant getting half the job done but here things dont even move beyond the few intensely dramatic moments the film offers.Starting off in a zig zag way and zooming into Corsica for all its picturesque locales and near bland and kiddish chemistry between the leads, the film picks up only at the crucuil intermission scene and beyond that when Deepika turns down Ranbir's proposal and ring at a dinner with his friends. The intense scenes have Ali's trademark stamp and are the only moments when the actors breathe life into their roles. The scenes between the father and son,the dreams of a child being nipped in the bud and being turned into a robotic machine drowning in the monotony of corporate life is well etched out.Ranbir Kapoor literally chews into the scenery in the second half and owns the movie. His outbursts, frustration, persecution complex ,inferiority complex all make his Ved a lot as admirable as despicable.despicable. Deepika radiates enough charm and makes the emotional moments more heart tugging and even heart warming as the girl who initially rejects but is willing to stand by her man during his tough times.A.R Rehman's tunes are pleasant but not memorable with all their quirky and colourful picturisation adding the zing. The Alka Yagnik-Arjit Singh duet at the pub is a beauty. The camera man and the costume designers seem to have had a ball with this movie.
Sadly in spite of all its few radiant pluses..which includes a contolled Javed Sheikh as Ranbir's father and a tangy and near weird Vivek Mushran as his boss, Tamashaa is over bearing and often tests your patience.Would recommend it only for die hard Ranbir-Deepika fans. For better chemistry between the talented leads, I suggest fans revisit their earlier films"Bachna Ae Haseeno" and "Yeh Jawani hai Deewani".

*SPOILER*  Why would we want the same story when we have a completely different one??
on

'Tamasha', focuses entirely on Ved Vardhan Sahni and his journey to achieve his real dream - Theatre and dramatics..... Ved is a completely creative person who gets conformed to societal guidelines and pressure to run the 'race' and leads a robotic life which suddenly takes a reverse gear when he meets his Tara Maheshwari for the second time as destiny (maybe a little stalking, determination and a little hope works too!) would have it.

'Tamasha', drags out the performer in Ranbir and showcases the many sides of his acting skills which he has shown us before in Barfi, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani and Rockstar. The movie slows a little bit in the middle which could be difficult for some ADHD Veds out there... but overall the movie is a love story to the drama and creativity in all of us from director Imtiaz. The equation between Deepika and Ranbir is organic and natural compared to YJHD where it was electric. The point where she breaks him and shines the light on his true nature is the brilliant part of the film.

A unique take on a simple storyline... ‘Tamasha’, is anything but average, normal or mediocre!!
