This evocative romantic drama revolves around the twists and turns in the life of Vinod/Vinu (Mohanlal), a sensitive young man who becomes mentally ill and is hospitalized in the institution run by Dr. Ravindran ( M G Soman). Dr Ravindran's young and brilliant daughter, Dr Savithri takes over the responsibility of treating the young Vinu and ensures that she makes a remarkable recovery. At this point, Dr. Unnikrishnan (Nedumudi Venu) finds that Vinu fell ill after the accidental death of his fiancée Anitha (Lizy). Over a period of time Vinu and Dr Savithri find themselves falling in love with each other, but since this is against professional ethics, Dr Ravindran opposes it. To make matters worse, Savithri is already engaged to be married to her cousin, Hari (Mukesh). Will the young lovers succeed in staying together against all odds? Is Vinu destined to have a second chance at love and happiness in his life?
