For 30 years Fabrizio Collini has worked diligently for a German carmaker before going and killing a man on a whim. The murder case is a nightmare to lawyer Caspar Leinen who is assigned the case. The victim is respected industrialist Jean-Baptiste Meyer who was Leinen's long-time friend and mentor and is the grandfather of his high-school sweetheart Johanna. Being personally involved Caspar has a client who won't open up and an opponent who is the prosecutor Professor Richard Mattinger. He has to lose everything to win this case when the opposition reveals the greatest legal scandals ever, stretching back to World War II.
