Velluvily (1978)

This socially relevant drama delves into the twists and turns in the life of Soman, and honest an fearless young man, who always fights against crime and injustice.

Govindan is an impoverished man who works as a labourer in a wealthy man's estate. When the wealthy man accuses Govindan's son of stealing his daughter's necklace, he becomes furious, beats the young boy and asks him to leave forever. Just a little while later Savithri, the wealthy man's daughter identifies the true culprit, but the damage is done as the young boy has already left his home.

Many years later, when the wealthy man is waylaid by burglars, Soman saves him, but he walks away without even accepting thanks. He also saves the life of Lakshmi, a beautiful, young field worker and again leaves immediately.

The area is tyrannised by a rowdy named Moidugga. He physically assaults the locals and forces them to do his bidding, even snatching their money at will. Soman fearlessly takes on Moidugga, defeats him, reforms him and they become the best of friends.

As Soman keeps fighting injustice and crime in the area, he comes into contact with the wealthy estate owner again. Upon the estate owner's request, Soman agrees to become the manager of his estate. He continues to help those in need and fight crime. He also decides to marry Lakshmi.

As Soman gains the trust of the estate owner and begins to take control of day-to-day activities in the estate, Shridhar, the estate owner's corrupt son-in-law becomes his enemy. How will the conflict between Soman and Shridhar turn out?
