The true story of a life lost and found
Trivia:
The famous A.R. Rahman song "Urvasi" from the movie Kadhalan /Humse Hain Muqabla is featured in the film.

Nicole Kidman was the handpicked choice by the real-life Sue Brierley to portray her part.

Rooney Mara's character is not based on a single real-life character, but a combination of Saroo's real-life ex-girlfriends.

Dev Patel's initial audition had lasted hours as the producers were concerned that he was too obvious as the choice for a lead role given his Indian heritage.

To get into the skin of her character, Priyanka Bose went all the way to Madhya Pradesh to meet Kamla Munshi, the mother her character was based on.

Dev Patel had to develop a new physique for his role and had attended several hours in the gym in order inhabit his part and he also developed an Australian accent.

The 8-year-old artiste Sunny Pawar was originally unable to attend the US premiere of the movie because he was denied a visa.

The movie is based on Saroo Brierley's memoir 'A Long Way Home'.

Sia had written the song "Never Give Up" for the film which also includes the song "The Sun, The Sand And The Sea" from noted songwriter Jimmy Radcliffe.
