English actor Dev Patel made his screen debut as Anwar Kharral in the famous British teen drama television series 'Skins', and rose to International fame with lead character of Jamal Malik in Danny Boyle's drama Slumdog Millionaire which became the breakthrough movie of his career for which he was nominated for the SAG Award for Best Supporting Actor and the BAFTA Award for Best Actor. Dev went on to star in the highly successful romantic comedy 'The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel' and its 2015 sequel, the fantasy film 'The Last Airbender'. He has also received appreciation for his character of the mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan in the biopic movie 'The Man Who Knew Infinity'. Dev has also won the BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actor and was nominated for the Golden Globe, Critics' Choice Award, SAG Award, and the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his movie 'Lion'. Patel was born in London, England to Gujurati Hindu parents Anita and Raj who are of Indian origin. He had attended the Whitmore High School where he was also lauded for his performances in many school theater productions. He is also trained in Taekwon-do and has competed in both national and international championships. Patel was involved in a romantic relationship with his Slumdog Millionaire co-star Freida Pinto in 2009 until they separated in 2014 after nearly six years of dating.
