Rajinikanth is one of the most iconic Indian actor, media personality, and cultural icon, who is also known for his screen writing and productions. Born in Bangalore, and employed as a bus conductor, his interest in acting motivated him to join the Madras Film Institute.
He made his debut as an actor, in the National Film Award winning Tamil film, Apoorva Raagangal (1975), directed by K Balachander, whom the actor considers his mentor. Initially, he portrayed characters with a negative streak, before his talent to play the hero was recognized and he captured his place as the leading man.
